So… about that Live Action movie

Yesterday I had the chance to watch it so, if you’re interested, here’s my little review of it.
If you are expecting an adaptation of the 80’s, classic story written by Kurumada sorry to inform you will be disappointed but if you are expecting a movie of the Netflix’s adaptation this film has you! Both on similar story and that USA necessity of changing the names (Seiya being probably the only one who kept his name. Just like in the Netflix KotZ serie)
The visual effects were not bad to be honest, it wasn’t anything mind blowing but I was genuinely surprised they didn’t look awful. I’d even say they are at par and sometimes even better looking than some Marvel films now a days but the true star of the movie is the fights choreography and the director knew it. I had genuine fun watching the fights, they were shot in a very stylized way. It was really good watching a movie who was not afraid to be over the top on it’s choices.
The acting was… it was.
I’d say everyone did an alright job, the two stand outs being Mark Dacascos as Mylock (Tatsumi’s version of the film) was very charismatic and fun to watch and Arata Mackenyu does a good job as Seiya. Feels organic.
The biggest actor the film has is Sean Bean and is good he was not in auto pilot but actually playing the role given. I appreciated that.

Overall, I think the movie was alright. Not a Saint Seiya live action but definitely a Knights of the Zodiac Live action and I’ll even say the writing was better than the Netflix show at times.
If you liked Netflix’s KotZ you will definitely like this movie, and if you didn’t but you still go with that in mind I do believe you’ll have fun.
